  • Location: Doncaster and surrounding community areas
  • Job type: Full-time, Part-time, Bank and Flexible Shifts
  • Pay: Competitive hourly rate, plus mileage and travel time where applicable
  • Reports to: Care Coordinator, Field Supervisor or Service Manager

We are looking for caring, reliable and professional Healthcare Assistants to join our growing team in Doncaster.

You will support people with their daily care needs while helping them maintain their dignity, independence, safety and quality of life.

Your role

As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personal care including washing, dressing, grooming, oral care and continence support
  • Supporting people with meals, drinks, nutrition and hydration
  • Helping with mobility, transfers, repositioning and pressure-area care
  • Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support
  • Supporting people to remain as independent as possible
  • Prompting, assisting with or administering medication where authorised
  • Completing clear and accurate care records
  • Recognising changes in a person's health or wellbeing and reporting concerns promptly
  • Following individual care plans, risk assessments and healthcare guidance
  • Maintaining dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times

Complex and healthcare support

Depending on the people you support, you might also assist with healthcare-related tasks including:

  • Recording observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation and respiratory rate
  • Catheter and urinary drainage support
  • Stoma support
  • Skin integrity and pressure-area care
  • Nutrition and hydration monitoring
  • Supporting people with complex healthcare needs
  • Using authorised healthcare equipment
  • Working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals

You will only undertake healthcare tasks after receiving the appropriate training, competency assessment and authorisation.

What we are looking for

You should have:

  • A caring, compassionate and respectful approach
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Good observation and record-keeping skills
  • The confidence to report concerns or changes in someone's condition
  • The ability to follow care plans, risk assessments and instructions
  • A willingness to complete mandatory and person-specific training
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider care team
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Flexibility to work different shifts where required

Previous care experience is welcomed, although your attitude, values and willingness to learn are equally important.

Desirable experience

We would particularly like to hear from applicants who have:

  • A Care Certificate
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care or Adult Care qualification
  • Previous experience within domiciliary or community care
  • Experience supporting people with complex healthcare needs
  • Experience with catheter care, stoma support, observations or pressure-area care
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Training and development

  • You will receive an induction and the training required for your role.
  • Where you support someone with specific healthcare needs, you will receive relevant person-specific training and competency assessments before undertaking those duties.
  • You will never be expected to perform a healthcare task outside your training, competence or authorised responsibilities.
