I came across Tapera Healthcare via the short breaks provision for my son, who has autism. He has been granted 4 hours a week 2:1 (8 hours total as two carers are in attendance for 4 hours). Elizabeth/Liz has been fantastic in making sure my son’s needs are being met, including trying to match carers to his needs, with the aim of having a small group of carers that can get to know him well and rotate based on availability – and this includes Liz herself. So far we have also had Shashank and Jasmeen for multiple visits, who my son has also really taken a liking to. The eventual aim is to have a couple more to ensure consistency for my son if others aren’t available, with the aim of him always having at least one person that he knows well in attendance. Liz does her best to be flexible and accommodating, and all of them take a genuine interest in learning about and meeting the needs of not just my son but the family as a whole – so I don’t just feel like a number, or the person only referred to as “Mum” or “son’s Mum” rather than by my own name! The personal touch really makes all the difference.

Tapera Healthcare have been amazing. Elizabeth was great on her first visit and took the time to get to know and understand my son and his needs. Elizabeth and her staff have all shown great compassion and empathy for him and his needs, meaning my son not only trusted them feeling safe quite quickly, but also looked forward to their visits. They are great at encouraging happy and positive activities without any emotional disregulation.

The staff was incredibly warm and attentive, making sure my husband’s every need was taken care of while giving me the time to rest.
